Leader: David Evans Meet: 10:30 am at SD 115845 layby at Whitbeck. c. 6 km walking on farm track and steep gravelly path to beach. Hard hat and digging tools optional. No toilet facilities. This trip will investigate the complex stratigraphy of glacial deposits and glacitectonic structures associated with the construction of moraines along the Cumbrian coast during the last glaciation. Extensive cliff exposures at Gutterby and Annaside will be the focus of some hands on sedimentology.
Cumbria GeoConservation Group are hosting activities between 7th to 15th May.
