parking, but park with great care noting the many
restrictions.
The Castle Head intrusion, Keswick, and the Quaternary features of the surrounding area.
Mostly on well surfaced paths. Short road sections.
Short, steep, rocky, but clear path up to Castle Head
Summit. Section along shore of Derwent Water.

After the walk we intend to gather in The Bush on Main Street 7.15 – 7.30. Anyone looking for food is advised to book in advance either at The Bush that will take a group of no more than 6 or elsewhere. Other options include: Hunters which will also have a quiz, Tarantella restaurant, The Bitter End and at more expense, The Trout.

This is a joint excursion with the OUGS
The geology and old mines of the Coal Measures
and Permo-Triassic south and west of
Whitehaven.
The visit will involve two walks of 1.4k (40m
ascent and descent) and 4k (negligible ascent
and descent) with a further walk of 0.8k
(negligible ascent and descent) if time permits.
